MOOD SWINGS #19
There’s still work to be done.

MOOD SWINGS

MOOD SWINGS?

Besides being the obvious side effect to a hormonal outburst, ‘Mood Swings’ is an editorial crafted by our editor Jay Tee, alongside contributions from the JTGA team. It’s like a series of extended tweets, ranting or raving about something terrible / great that has happened in the world of gaming.

It’s a collection of random musings designed to provide a snapshot of what we’re doing, things you should be excited for, and stuff to avoid as you navigate the choppy waters of this wonderfully unpredictable hobby.

Anything, from reactions to a new game announcement, surprising breaking news, to our cat just nibbled our thumb sticks, can be found here. Each “Mood Swing” will be tagged with either a green, yellow, or red Tarp badge. This represents a visual indicator of our reaction.

PORT SURPRISE - Guacamelee 1 and 2 coming to Switch is fantastic news. These delightfully stylish co-op platformers are a perfect fit for the local multiplayer focused console. They always felt like they belonged on a Nintendo platform, and shadow dropping the first game creates such good will, alongside confirmation of the sequel port arriving before the end of the year. The Switch has become a (slightly overstuffed) welcoming home to indie titles, and this latest release is another great ‘get’ for Nintendo. - JAY TEE

This series is an absolute delight. CLICK HERE to read our PS4 review of Guacamelee 2.

BE WARY JUAREZ - Techland released a cute, wink at the audience video earlier today, acknowledging the imminent arrival of Red Dead Redemption 2. The direct reference to Rockstar’s upcoming sequel suggests that Call of Juarez may also be making some kind of return, albeit in remastered form. However, the timing and nature of this reveal seems a little… odd, considering the hype surrounding Read Dead is at an all time high. I can’t imagine Call of Juarez (despite my affinity for that series) will command much attention. - JAY TEE

STREAM-TACULAR - Following the announcement of Ubisoft’s streaming partnership with Google for AC: Odyssey, Microsoft have given a (very silly) name to the streaming tech they teased at their fantastic E3 showing earlier this year. Project xCloud will allow you to play Xbox games on a smartphone, tablet, or other smart device. However, I have serious reservations about the technology available to support a truly seamless, latency free experience, and can’t help feeling that this concept is still VERY theoretical… - JAY TEE

GUACAMELEE 2 (PS4,  PC, AND NS)

A hugely under appreciated franchise.

CALL OF JUAREZ: GUNSLINGER (PS3, 360, AND PC)

No-one likes touchscreen controls for a gamepad. NO-ONE.
