MOOD SWINGS #20
Sea of Thieves gets a lifeline.

MOOD SWINGS

MOOD SWINGS?

Besides being the obvious side effect to a hormonal outburst, ‘Mood Swings’ is an editorial crafted by our editor Jay Tee, alongside contributions from the JTGA team. It’s like a series of extended tweets, ranting or raving about something terrible / great that has happened in the world of gaming.

It’s a collection of random musings designed to provide a snapshot of what we’re doing, things you should be excited for, and stuff to avoid as you navigate the choppy waters of this wonderfully unpredictable hobby.

Anything, from reactions to a new game announcement, surprising breaking news, to our cat just nibbled our thumb sticks, can be found here. Each “Mood Swing” will be tagged with either a green, yellow, or red Tarp badge. This represents a visual indicator of our reaction.

SHIVER ME TIMBERS! - Although the crowd’s constant hollering began to grate after a while, one of the many highlights from Microsoft’s X018 event was the reveal of Sea of Thieves’ new PvP mode: The Arena. I feel like this is exactly the hype injection Rare’s open world adventure needs to maintain relevance and generate renewed interest. A tighter, more focused experience will also create more ‘pick up and play’ opportunities for those players who don’t have the time to commit to a regular deep dive. - JAY TEE

The emptiness of the world, due to the criminal lack of friendly NPC’s, will be partially offset by this new mode. Sort of.

BLAM BLAM SHOOTY TIME - The consistent wave of updates and improvements made to Fortnite is something that I’ve waxed lyrical about on many occasions. Epic Games have absolutely set the benchmark for what is rapidly becoming a weekly refresh of their genre leading take on Battle Royale. But, I’m not entirely sold on the reveal of their upcoming mounted turret gadget. It seems at odds with the pace of the game, forcing you to hold position instead of pressing onward. However, I’m happy to be proven wrong! - JAY TEE

COME ON GABE! - Rumours of a Valve produced VR headset have left me feeling cold. With PSVR leading the charge in terms of sales and affordability, and Oculus Rift and HTC Vive occupying the higher end space, I don’t think an already niche market is screaming for a Valve produced headset. At this point, my apathy and frustration with Valve over their lack of interest in delivering long desired sequels has left me with a bitter tinge of (somewhat petty) indifference. It feels like they’re out of touch, and as a fan, it’s hugely disappointing. - JAY TEE

SEA OF THIEVES (XB1, AND  PC)

The constant updates are very much appreciated, and a great way to keep the game fresh.

FORTNITE (PS4, XB1, PC, NS, MOBILE)

The controller does look incredible. You should be taking notes Sony! Time to ditch the Move…
