MOOD SWINGS #16
There’s still work to be done.

MOOD SWINGS

MOOD SWINGS?

Besides being the obvious side effect to a hormonal outburst, ‘Mood Swings’ is an editorial crafted by our editor Jay Tee, alongside contributions from the JTGA team. It’s like a series of extended tweets, ranting or raving about something terrible / great that has happened in the world of gaming.

It’s a collection of random musings designed to provide a snapshot of what we’re doing, things you should be excited for, and stuff to avoid as you navigate the choppy waters of this wonderfully unpredictable hobby.

Anything, from reactions to a new game announcement, surprising breaking news, to our cat just nibbled our thumb sticks, can be found here. Each “Mood Swing” will be tagged with either a green, yellow, or red Tarp badge. This represents a visual indicator of our reaction.

LEAKY PUBG - Sony have been missing out on the pandemonium of PUBG ever since Xbox sewed up the Early Access console exclusive rights. Today’s latest Korean Ratings Board leak (which has a long history of revealing things well before their intended announcement) suggests PUBG will soon be released on PS4. Competitive multiplayer is a huge gap in Sony’s first party offering. Even though PUBG won’t be exclusive to the platform, having it on the PS4, especially after all this time, is definitely a win. - JAY TEE

I mean… it’s cool that it’ll probably launch on PS4 but… I really don’t like PUBG. Don’t @ me!

NOT SO CLASSIC - I can’t help but feel sceptical of Sony’s announcement of a PlayStation mini console earlier today. I appreciate that it’s a proven concept; it clearly worked for Nintendo, and caters to the growing desire for retro and nostalgic content. But the included PlayStation 1 library is worryingly vague. Only five titles (of the twenty) have been revealed. Either Sony are sitting on the full unveiling because they know they’ve nailed down the good stuff, or the final product list will leave us underwhelmed. - JAY TEE

WORK TO BE DONE - Yes, the Nintendo Switch Online subscription prices are reasonable. Yes, it’s nice that they’re starting to support more games with voice chat (even if it is still through the smartphone app). And yep, that NES library is a cool (if half baked) way of rebranding Virtual Console. But the cloud saves are in need of some serious work. Certain games don’t support it AT ALL, making the whole thing feel like it could do with another six months in the oven… even though they’ve had 18 months to get this right! - JAY TEE

PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS (PC, XB1)

What’s ya game plan, Sony?!

PLAYSTATION CLASSIC

I will subscribe to this just so I can keep losing at Mario Tennis Aces.
